Bladderstone Week 23

At the beginning of week 23, we are headed into Fall.  on the calendar for the week we have Percy’s birthday on Sunday, Ripley’s birthday on Thursday, and Harvestfest on Thursday.  Orlando and Larissa already have A’s in high school and are Llamacorn scouts so they are done with everything they need to do.  Percy and Ripley both have A’s in school, have completed their child aspirations, and have 8/9 badges – just need their outdoor adventurer badge – so they are basically done until their birthday, as I generally let them grill as a teen for that badge as that also gives them level 3 cooking as their skill for their school skill requirement.  That means my focus is on Octavia and Palmer for this week.

Octavia has an A in school so she is good there.  And she is on the last tier of her aspiration – she needs to craft her emotional potions and max the mental skill.  She also needs to earn the fitness badge.

Palmer is still a C student, so he has to work on his grades.  He only has 5 badges, so he has a lot to complete there.  And he is only on the second tier of his aspiration.  So once Octavia is finished Palmer will become the primary target.

I decided to kill two birds with one stone and sent all four kids fishing.  Building mental for Octavia and Palmer while working on the outdoor adventurer badge for all four of them.  Besides it was a nice Sunday in Fall.  Windy, cool but not cold, and not raining.  By the time the kids left for their scout meeting they had all earned their badge.

Octavia takes a vacation day from school and works on her aspiration and her badge, completing both.

Percy becomes a teen and develops a strong affinity with cats and dogs.  A strong affinity.

Well, this is a first.  I have never seen a child cry on the teddy bear before.  Maybe I haven’t watched close enough.  Palmer has had a hard day at school.  This is a sadness not caused by death, for once.

And then, he blew his nose. A lot.

Love a man in uniform – Brantley looks so good in his…  despite the sneer.

Palmer completes his aspiration and I am done with aspirations!  One last badge to finish and I will be done with the have-to-do goals.  Then it will just be letting them have fun until they all grow up.

Harvestfest brings outs the gnomes and the family lines up to try their hand at appeasing them.  Out of eight gnomes, they only have two failures.  Orlando and Percy.

Percy manages to beg forgiveness on his first attempt, but it takes Orlando two times to gain favor.

The family has a grand breakfast while the gnomes gather around to watch.  The gnomes even bring a few friends because there are more than we started with.

After breakfast, they have two birthdays – Ripley becomes a teen and Orlando becomes a young adult and promptly moves out.  The shelves in the background are the potions that the kids have earned but no one can use due to the Never Learned to Share mini-challenge, before I added Orlando’s contribution.  Since they were still in the middle of Harvestfest, I waited until it registered complete before moving him out.

With an open spot in the house, and no more kids needed, Brittany takes in a puppy. Barney is a dachshund, independent, a hunter, and a couch potato.  Not sure how those will mesh but we’ll see.

He wandered all over the neighborhood when she let him out for awhile.

With another death in the extended family, it was time for some comforting and sharing burdens.  I had figured out how to reduce the sadness on the kids and teens, and also figured out that the share the burden option between Brantley and Brittany allowed them to eliminate the sadness completely.  So once that was done, and Larissa was ushered inside to warm up, the family was able to get on with their weekend.

Percy loves Barney.

Another round of sadness ends of the week as news of Odessa’s death reaches the family.  Finally everyone is settled into bed and the week comes to an end.

Streamer Updates

The branches of this family tree is getting intertwined and confusing.  Once a spouse has died, that link is severed and the history is erased in game.  I am moving the stepchildren out once they are old enough to live alone and keeping the Bladderstone bloodline together as best I can.  I am trying to keep the households small so that MCCC can work on the story progression without running into full households.  I am also watching the household where there are elders to make sure there is at least a teen in the house to take care of the younger kids when the elder dies (bloodline houses only).  This has definitely been a learning experience for me and I have notes on things I will do differently in the future.  One thing I have noticed, especially since the challenge is to have 24 kids to one couple, is that most of the households remaining in the world are all connected to the Bladderstones in some way, which has resulted some very twisted branches and interesting (confusing) interconnections.

I have been playing Sims since August 2005; a member, then a moderator, and now an admin of since October 2006. My sister is the one that hooked me on Sims in the beginning. She had all of the original Sims games and one week while I was on vacation I took her games and started playing. That was the beginning of my obsession. I played Sims 1 for about a month and then decided to buy Sims 2. When Sims 3 was released I made the move and have never looked back. Now I am all in on Sims 4 and still loving it.
