So with the release of Life & Death I have a renewed interest in starting a new challenge. I have been waiting for a good idea and I think I have it. It isn’t unique as there are several people posting online with similar ideas, but I am going to write my challenge without reading what others are posing. The primary goal for this legacy is not to have 10 generations but for the founder, Raven Grimm, to live many different lifetimes through rebirth. Each life she will have a different aspiration and different goals to complete.
The challenge sim must complete their Bucket List and reach Dreams Fulfilled in their Soul Journey for each lifetime.
When the challenge sim dies, they will have the choice to rebirth into any household or to stay within the same household. They also have the choice to become a playable ghost or to move on peacefully. All other sims in the household should choose to move on peacefully – the focus on this challenge is the initial sim.
For this challenge, your sim should choose to rebirth immediately if they have reached Dreams Fulfilled or they should continue as a ghost until they have the option to rebirth. All both cases, they should choose to rebirth as soon as it is an option.
When it is time for their rebirth, they should choose to remain with their family, becoming the child of one of their children. Yes, they will become their own grandchild. Assuming they have children, and their children are old enough to become a parent. If staying in the household is not an option, they can choose any household in any neighborhood to join.
The challenge sim will always be the focus of the challenge and the generations will be counted by how many lives they live. My thought is 9-10 lives but the challenge could be played for a shorter time or for a longer time.
Each life they live should have different goals, career, and aspiration to pursue. Since they will begin over as an infant, they should try different traits also.
For the last life, once they have died, they should complete the final three ghost levels of the Soul Journey. Once this has been completed, the challenge ends.
Raven Grimm was originally created to complete the Reaper Event, which she did. As she was playing through the event, I realized she was the perfect sim to begin the new challenge. After completing the reaper event, I started a new save with the original Raven, and here we are.
Raven moves into the large empty lot in Ravenwood (Hay Hill Landing) and begins her new life. And for the record, I didn’t realize the new world was called Ravenwood until after Raven was created. Her name was provided by CoPilot as an appropriate name for a founding sim. I am also noticing there there are quite a lot of Ravens on the Gallery now. I thought about changing her name but I am liking Raven for the sim that she is.
One quick note for me more than anyone else. I am testing out the ReShade configuration “Harrie – Lightbrigade”
There are so many changes in the game since the last time I played. I had fun playing with the settings and creating Raven. She is open to romance and woohoo with both men and women, and does not get jealous.
- Aspiration: Ghost Historian
- Traits: Creative, Romantic, and Macabre
She starts out with the following likes – Writing, Romance, Thanatology, and Black. She doesn’t start off with any dislikes, turn-ons, or turn-offs.
There three new careers to choose from. Which one should she pursue this lifetime? Actually as a Ghost Historian, one of her aspirations is to write and publish books, so despite the new careers, Raven is going to become a Writer.
Deciding that she wants to wait to take the job until she can start at a higher level, Raven first decides to study Writing and Thanatology for her aspiration. She needs 3,000 aspiration points in order to buy Connections. Thankfully, Raven’s aspiration doesn’t require career progress so she should be able to work on earning the points before entering the career. Raven begins by reading about writing and thanatology. She also buys the books for wellness and romance. It is fun not feeling pressure to get everything done as soon as possible. Her primary goal is to complete her bucket list and everything else is just icing.
And then the welcoming party shows up. She takes the time to get to know her neighbors. She needs to make friends with a ghost and there just happens to be one in the group. More sims drop by and by the end of the party she has four new acquaintances and is friends with Waylon, the ghost.
She spends the rest of the evening reading her skill books and adds a small bathroom to the lot. When it is time for bed, she purchases a new bed and goes to sleep.
And then I restarted with Raven on a new lot – Mystic Crossroads. She took the Haunted House Residential lot type, lots traits of Romantic Aura, Peace and Quiet, and On Hallowed Grounds. Additionally, she has the lot challenges of Scare Seeker and Spooky. The Haunted House lot type, which is the first time I have played it, includes the following:
- Ghostly Assistance
- Specters
- Haunted Treasure
- Paranormal Activity
- Accursed Objects
- Its Alive
- Be Brave
- Aspiring Investigators Welcome
- ???????? – SHE’S COMING FOR YOU!
Raven enjoyed another welcoming party, this time having the opportunity to befriend several ghosts.
This was a more productive day as not only did she make a ghost friend, she also completed tier one of her aspiration and progressed on her bucket list.
While exploring the crypt Raven makes a decision and comes out as a ghost. Temporary thankfully. And since she is making all of the best decisions right now, she immediately eats the cake.
It was a good day, but a rough day.
Raven works on her aspiration, still not having the points for Connections. She heads to the bar and there are so many ghosts out and about.
With a look at Cupid Corner, she identifies three sims to check out for future potential partners. The first one looks good online but shows up in armor. Then she finds out he is jealous. So that is a nope.
And then I decided to restart the challenge. More to come…
