Because of how late in life Athena was born to Felix, there was no way he would live long enough for Athena to grow up with him or Cali, and Astraea didn’t want Athena to go to a foster family when they died. It was decided that Athena would leave with Astraea and that way there would never be any question of where she belonged. So, when Astraea moved to Windenburg, she took Athena with her. Having grown up in town where there was always someone walking around, she longs for a place in the country, where she can find peace and quiet and some privacy for her and Athena. She is lucky and finds a quiet lot in the back of nowhere. They are well on the outskirts of the town, and there will be plenty of room for her to build a rocket. She has decided that she wants to become an astronaut and explore the galaxy. She hopes to find the planet of her mother, although it will be a long shot to actually find her mother. But after spending her entire life hiding in disguise in order to blend in, she would like to meet other aliens like herself and find out more about her heritage.

The Tag-along: Athena Karma

  • Independent Toddler

Astraea and Athena arrive at their new home just as the snow begins to fall. It is the first day of spring, so they are hoping the snow will be light and not stick to the ground. There isn’t any shelter yet, and they will also need basic items for the bathroom and kitchen along with a place to sleep, and some toddler items for Athena.  Astraea brought a few of the inventions Felix made with her, but those won’t be helpful at first.  She has limited funds to get started, and her first priority is a job, shelter, and taking care of Athena.

Astraea spends her savings building the shell of her new home, and then with what little is left she buys the basics to get them through until she starts bringing in money.  Mostly she buys things for Athena, but she does manage to get a toilet, shower, and fridge.  She will be sleeping in a tent for the time being.  And wow, this is a big house.  Bigger than she realized until she started building it.

After getting the house situated and knowing that at least they have a roof over their head, Astraea shows Athena how to use the potty.  She is independent so she is pretty sure she can do it all by herself but she tolerates Astraea’s help this time.

After the potty training, Athena wants to play so they play.  Anything to avoid any potential welcoming committee.  Astraea is hoping they can fly under the radar and no one notices that they moved in.  Speaking of flying, Athena loves to fly!

Astraea soon remembers that she should actually call and take a job, so she does.  She gets a position as a Technician (level 3) which comes with a decent bonus and several cool objects.  One is a light which she places above Athena’s bed and the other is a model rocket.  She also has enough money to buy a nice chess table so she can start practicing chess for her job tasks.  She also sorts through the rest of her inventory, and finally dumps all the seed packs she brought from home.  They were locked so they couldn’t be sold as seed packs and had to be opened, then the fruits and vegetables had to be sold individually.

Athena may be able to go to the potty alone, but that doesn’t mean she does so successfully.

Athena watches Astraea play chess, torn between her need to be independent and her want for attention.

After Astraea finishes her chess practice they have dinner and get ready for bed.  It has been a busy first day but they have successfully made it to bedtime.  Astraea reads her a book and then another story to get her to sleep.

The entire time Athena was babbling and talking to the stuffed bear, she kept looking back over at Astraea, who was painting landscapes.  It took two landscapes in order to cover the bills for the week.  If only it were that easy in real life.  And, they weren’t talking to each other, Athena was just looking at her, like she was keeping an eye on where she was and what she was doing.

Having just maxed out communication, Athena looks over to see if Astraea noticed.  She hasn’t because she is finishing up the second landscape.  Then she has to go out and pay the bills.

With that taken care of, now Astraea can check on Athena.  What does little Athena want?

Lunch, that is what Athena wants.  So they both have sandwiches.

Oh yeah, Astraea actually needs to change her aspiration to Nerd Brain.  She then upgrades the sink.  She now needs to craft something on the woodworking table, which she can’t yet afford to buy.  She needs to sell some more paintings.

Another late thought – Astraea spends her aspiration points and purchases several traits: Frugal, Steel Bladder, Entrepreneurial, and Free Services.

They finally had their first butting of the heads.  Athena reached the end of her cooperation rope and became defiant when Astraea asked her to do some more flash cards before bedtime.  They did the flash cards anyway and then they both went to bed.  Astraea starts her new job in the morning and Athena will meet her new nanny.  Oh joy.

Astraea is finally leaving for her first day on the job.  She is going to work hard and hope for quick promotions.

It takes Athena a few minutes to realize she is gone.

When she heads outside to find Astraea, she finds the nanny instead.  She tries to kill him by asking him to play with her over and over and over.  He played with her six times in a row, but he must have a strong constitution because he survived.

Since he is still alive, Athena decides to see if he will feed her instead.

He does feed her, and he even cleans up the dirty dishes.  Then she spends the rest of the afternoon practicing going potty.  She only misses the potty once.

Astraea does good on her first day and earns a promotion to Command Center Lead.  She needs to build up her fitness skill to prepare for her next promotion and she really needs to sell a bunch of paintings so she can buy her own rocket.  She doesn’t want to wait until she receives one as a promotion reward, so she will need to §5,000 to buy her own.  She also needs to be a stove, and a lot of other things.  She needs a lot of simoleons.

It has been a long day and they both worked hard.  They have earned their sleep tonight.

Astraea decides to try to transform something to see what she gets.  She buys the cheapest trash can, and they now have §16.

She starts a fire in the trash can.  Because, of course she does.

Thankfully the simray also freezes the fire out so quickly the trash can is not damaged.

She continues to transform it, hoping each time for something better, something either really expensive that she can sell, or something that she needs in the house.  She keeps transforming it until she transforms it into something that cannot be used and cannot be transformed into something else.  Yeah, that sucks.

Athena has mastered the potty!

Astraea realizes she still needs to level fitness, and not having enough simoleons to buy any fitness equipment, she goes jogging.

Athena spends another day with the nanny, watching him cook her lunch.  He didn’t even set anything on fire.

Then she tried to drive him insane with a lot of questions, but that didn’t work, so she ate some of the food he made.

Another day, and the green fumes are getting stronger.  They have a shower but not a tub.  That is bad news for the toddlers.  She is hopeful that Astraea will figure out the secret of the simoleons soon.

Deciding that there isn’t anything in the rules against using the items she brought with her – she only has the build the rocket herself – she begins using the satellite.  The first thing she does is to identify local aliens.  It makes Athena glow like a green lightning bug.  She is the only one that is lit up.  Astraea also tries to contact aliens and then just to try to improve their mood, she does the neighborhood hivemind – happy town.

Then she moves the wormhole generator out to where she can access it and she begins trying to make alien contact.  She has the option to travel to an alien world, but since that is a mission objective, she is kind of wanting to do that after she completes the rocket.  Her main goal now is meeting an alien and trying to find her soulmate.  She really needs the cash influx.  I mean, she is looking for love.  Despite trying to contact aliens many, many, many, many times, no one comes to meet her.

Athena maxes out thinking with one last question that Astraea can’t answer.  At least someone is getting shit done.

I have been playing Sims since August 2005; a member, then a moderator, and now an admin of Boolprop.net since October 2006. My sister is the one that hooked me on Sims in the beginning. She had all of the original Sims games and one week while I was on vacation I took her games and started playing. That was the beginning of my obsession. I played Sims 1 for about a month and then decided to buy Sims 2. When Sims 3 was released I made the move and have never looked back. Now I am all in on Sims 4 and still loving it.
