Mia’s Chapter 10

We made a few changes around the house this week. I added Teen Neighborhood, Science Lair, and Private Dwelling to the lot traits, which immediately made the place feel like a cross between a high‑school cafeteria and a secret bunker. Teen Neighborhood didn’t last long — once the boys found romantic partners, I removed it before the front porch turned into a full‑time hangout spot.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, I was abducted again. Number ten. This time it happened right after woohoo, which meant I was naked. Again. At this point I’m convinced the aliens have a sense of humor, and I’m the punchline.

Back on Earth, Trace and Ellie decided to have a contest to see who could make the best salad. I didn’t judge it — I was still recovering from the abduction — but I heard a lot of chopping and competitive muttering, so I assume it was intense. Before I could ask who won, I was abducted again. Number eleven. I’m starting to lose track.

When I finally returned and wasn’t immediately dragged back into the sky, I realized my relationship with Trace was basically nonexistent. Not hostile, just… blank. So I spent some time getting to know him. He’s engaged now, to Kiley, who is pregnant. The baby is due before they even graduate high school. I’m trying not to think too hard about that.

We also had more losses in the family. Trinity and Lillie both passed from old age. Lacey is still hanging on — apparently completing Bodybuilder gives you a longer life, which is good to know. Colton took the deaths hard, and things only got worse when he broke up with Misael. Apparently Misael kept flirting with Ellie and was mean to everyone else. Colton ended it, but it still broke his heart.

Then came abduction number twelve. At this point I’m considering installing a roof‑mounted alarm system just for myself.

While I was gone, Kiley gave birth to a baby boy — Kurt. Trace and Kiley are already talking about getting married as soon as they graduate. I’m trying to be supportive, but I’m also trying to remember what I was doing at their age. (Not this.)

Somewhere in the chaos, I received my final promotion: Extraterrestrial Explorer. I’d celebrate if I weren’t constantly being dragged into the sky. Oliver got promoted too — he’s a Ufologist now, level six — which feels appropriate given our household’s… situation.

Just when I thought I might get a break, I was abducted again — number thirteen. At this point the aliens aren’t even pretending to be subtle. One minute I was minding my own business, the next I was being yanked into the sky like a badly timed magic trick. I came back a few hours later, dazed, annoyed, and honestly more inconvenienced than alarmed. You’d think by the thirteenth time I’d at least get a loyalty card.

And then, finally, Colton reached his birthday. He aged into a young adult and took Materialistic to round out his traits. He’s ready to move out. I’m proud of him. I’m also slightly terrified of what the world will do to him — and what he’ll do back.

With Colton moving out, I took another look at the rest of the family — or at least the branches I can still track without needing a genealogical research grant. We’ve lost Mara, Derek, Finn, Emily, and Trinity now. Lacey and Sienna are still with us, though their lives have gone in very different directions.

Lacey moved to Parkshore in Willow Creek, and her house is still busy, but not quite the circus it used to be. Ava and Panagiotis took their kids and moved out, and Trent moved out as well. That leaves Lacey living with her husband, Braden, and Braden’s son, Lukas. It’s a quieter household than before, though “quiet” is relative in this family.

Trent, for his part, is now living with Ashlie Pancakes and their daughter, Jo. It’s probably for the best — at least that household configuration makes sense on paper.

Sienna’s situation shifted too. After Harold passed from old age, she was technically unhoused for a while. Wesley and Enrique — Harold’s sons — have now moved out, leaving Sienna with her own children with Harold: Hassan and Hazel. Once the unrelated squatters were finally evicted from Finn’s old house, Sienna moved in. It’s not glamorous, but it’s stable, and that’s more than she’s had in a long time.

Emily’s kids — Kendall, Keenan, and Tianna — are still living in her old house in Newcrest. Karen is still there, but Yagmur has moved out with her children, Melisa, Heaven, and Luca. The house is still full, but at least it’s not bursting at the seams anymore.

Brice’s household needed some cleanup too — three extra Foys were kicked out to realign the family tree. Brice is still married to Riley, and they have their son, Andrew, along with his older children, Kristen and Reid, from his relationship with the late Kassandra Foy.

Evan is out on his own as well, married to Corinne with their son, Zachary, plus he has a teenage son, Edgar, with Toni Pancakes. The family tree continues to branch in every direction like it’s trying to escape containment.

Trinity’s kids — Malik, Brittani, and Aiden — are still in their childhood home, but Arturo and Adrian have moved out. The house has finally returned to something resembling its original occupancy, though it still carries the weight of more generations than some historical landmarks.

As for Finn’s kids… I’ve finally tracked down where they ended up. None of them are married or have children, which at least keeps that part of the tree simple. Hassan Elkins is living with Fredrick and Alexandros Elkins. Uriel Kendrick is living with the Cardonas. Ikra Pancakes is living with Caitlin, Jermaine, and Aubree Pancakes.

And with Lacey’s old house sitting empty, Colton moved into it. It’s strange seeing him there — that’s the house I grew up in. But it’s his turn now. The legacy keeps moving forward, whether I’m ready or not.

Just when I thought the aliens might finally be losing interest, I was abducted again. Number fourteen. And then, because apparently they’re committed to the bit, number fifteen. At this point I’ve stopped bothering to act surprised. I come back, check that all my organs are still in the correct places, and move on with my day. On the bright side, I mastered cooking somewhere in between the disappearances, which feels like a very grounded, domestic counterbalance to being repeatedly dragged into the sky.

Trace spent the weekend with Kurt, getting in as much time as he could before graduation. He and Kiley have already decided that once Ellie moves out, Kiley and Kurt will move in with him here. They’ll stay with Oliver and me for a while. I’m not sure I’m ready for babies in the house again, but readiness has never been a requirement in this family.

The end of the generation came faster than I expected. Trace blew out his candles and took Childish as his final trait, which fits him better than anything else could. Since Kiley and Kurt will be moving in, we went ahead and set up the nursery before the chaos begins. Then Trace and Kiley had a small, private wedding on the front porch — simple, sweet, and exactly right for them. After the ceremony, she and Kurt moved in. And then, in true family fashion, she immediately told Trace she was pregnant again.

The next morning, it was Ellie’s turn. She blew out her candles, took High Maintenance, and switched her aspiration to Inner Peace. She’s preparing to move out now, ready to start her own life. I’m proud of her. I’m proud of all of them. But watching them go — one by one — is its own kind of adjustment.

The generation is complete, even if the story keeps going.

Mia

I didn’t realize how quickly a life fills up until I looked back and saw how much of mine had already happened. I came into this generation with nothing but a small house, a big ambition, and absolutely no idea what I was doing. Somewhere along the way, I built a family, reached the top of my career, survived more alien abductions than anyone should reasonably endure, and raised children who somehow grew into their own complicated, remarkable people. They’re scattering now — starting families, finding partners, carving out lives that don’t revolve around me — and I’m learning how to let the house be quieter than it used to be. I’ve done what I set out to do. I’ve finished my aspiration, completed my goals, and watched this family grow far beyond anything I imagined. It’s strange, stepping back. But it feels right. My part of the story is complete, and the legacy moves forward without me at the center. I’m proud of what we built. I’m proud of who they’ve become. And I’m ready to watch the next generation take the lead.

Alongside this legacy, the Watcher is also keeping brief genealogical notes on Deanna’s parallel challenge save. These updates aren’t story‑based—just clean snapshots of each generation’s founders and their children, recorded at the same generational milestones as this legacy.
