First, I realized last night that my game has not automatically updated since the end of April. Neither has the EA App. So I spent time last night and this morning trying to trigger the update. While I was at breakfast with the family, I thought of something to try. Getting home, that didn’t work, but it led me to the culprit. I always update the default.ini file to remove the plumbobs and in April I had placed a copy of the file in the Config Overrides. Well it worked. It overrode the regular file and my game stopped updating. I removed it, and now everything works again. The game is updated. I also updated reShade and made sure my other mods were updated. Somehow I had two names mods installed which means they were conflicting resulting in some awkward name combinations. I have removed one of them so hopefully the names become more appropriate for the sims in question.
Now it is time to begin the intermediate scenarios. All scenarios are randomized and that is the order I play them. There are only two hard scenarios and I am going to do those last. Then I will probably begin playing through the story starter kits from Sims Community. But for now, the next scenario is (Finding Love After a Breakup) (Engaged in Conflict). Apparently, I can’t get Finding Love After a Breakup to load with the scenario so it goes to the bottom of the list and we move to the next scenario in line. And then, Engaged in Conflict will load up fine but the sims are missing the sentiments they need to overcome. So…
Proud Parent
Story Endings
- Raise your child from infancy through their Teenage years
To start this scenario, I will need to create a single sim. I had the option of using an existing sim but decided since this is raising the child from birth to teen that I wanted to create the mom myself. So, we get Melody Meade. Melody was created several years back to found a new Drifter challenge but I never made that happen. So, she is brought out of my library to take this challenge.
Melody moves to Potters Splay and then looks for a house on the gallery. The house she chooses was made by xnukamax.
Melody needs money in order to either adopt or have a science baby. She could also get pregnant but she knows no one. She MUST have MONEY! Okay, Melody is going to be a Freelance painter. That way she has a way to make money without having to leave the child at home alone. She registers with the Electrified Artists to become a digital artist. Now if only she had a digital sketchpad. She needs §750 to buy one of those.
To give her enough money for the tablet, she goes through the house selling as much as possible, but then she turns around and changes out the lighting. She buys the tablet and has §91 remaining. Melody has no skills to fall back on. So, she takes an Odd Job to try to get something. She isn’t qualified for any of the odd jobs but by the time the requester realizes that she has already done the job.
This has been such a challenge to get going today. After playing Melody for a day or so several times, the scenario is being started over with an existing household. Peyton Price will be the proud parent for this scenario. She lives with her older brother, Duncan, so hopefully she will have some help with the house while she raises her child.
Peyton is Active, Snob, and Slob. She is a Young Adult for 6 more days and then she will be an Adult. Duncan is a Glutton, Genius, and Recycle Disciple. He just became an Adult so he has 42 days until he becomes an Elder. Since we will be with this household for awhile, they are both getting makeovers, and then the house will be setup for the incoming child. And I just realized Duncan doesn’t have a play to sleep, so that will be added during the remodel.
Ok, since nothing says I can’t create these sims, I change Duncan’s trait from Recycle Disciple to Ambitious. He also changes his aspiration to Nerd Brain and will be joining the Scientist career. We will not be going with him and he only has to work on breakthroughs at home, so minimal control needed. The only change made to his appearance was to remove those glasses.
Peyton gets more of a makeover and her aspiration is changed to Super Parent. She swaps Active for Family-oriented and she swaps Slob for Materialistic. She will be working as a Freelance Artist and a stay home mom.
Peyton begins the challenge with the adoption of a little girl named Sara. I was hoping to use the science baby but it didn’t count for the scenario, so adoption it is. The first two tasks are complete: 1. adopt a baby, and 2. take care of baby 9 times. The scenario has not been updated for infants, so the next task will not be until Sara is a toddler. I am trying to decide when I will allow early age up.
Duncan congratulates Peyton on her new baby and then heads upstairs. He has a reading nook put it at the top of the stairs and cleans out the closet to setup a science lab. It is empty now, but it will be his science lab.
He is able to get both of his breakthroughs by reading one book, so he is ready for work tomorrow. I turned off the follow notification so he will always go by himself to work.
The siblings spend Sunday afternoon watching a movie and then everyone goes to bed early. It has been an eventful day and everyone is exhausted.
Peyton practices her figure drawing and, well, okay. She decides to just leave it there for now. That should also prevent random paintings from being started and not completed. Peyton is working primarily on her sketchpad so the easel is just for emotional paintings.
It is Sara’s birthday and she grows into a Sunny infant. These Sims are bursting with smiles and giggles and enjoy engaging with other Sims, but they do require more attention. She also Frequently Sneezes.
Peyton fixes up her hair and shows her off to Duncan, who is about to leave for his first day at work. Instead of handing Sara back to Peyton, Duncan takes her upstairs and puts her in her bed. He does this a lot.
Peyton spends several hours working on tummy time with Sara and she soon can lift her head and she even learns how to reach.
Tummy time is hard work though and Sara tends to get a little frustrated.
Before putting Sara to bed for the night, Peyton adds the birds mobile to the crib and then everyone turns in. Hopefully Sara can sleep through the night and tomorrow she will get her first bubble bath.
